Garden Gossips is an AI-powered garden management application designed to help gardening enthusiasts better understand and care for their plants. While many people develop an emotional connection with their gardens, identifying plant needs, tracking maintenance activities, and understanding growth patterns often remains a challenging and fragmented process. The idea behind Garden Gossips was to create a more engaging relationship between users and their plants by giving plants a voice. Through AI-powered conversations and personalised insights, the app transforms routine plant care into an interactive experience that helps users feel more connected to the living things they nurture.

Understanding the Challenges of Plant Care

The primary UX challenge was helping users move beyond generic plant care advice and understand the individual needs of each plant in their garden. Beginner gardeners often struggle with questions around watering schedules, sunlight requirements, fertilisation, and identifying signs of poor plant health. Research revealed that while users genuinely care about their plants, they often lack the confidence and knowledge needed to make informed decisions. This presented an opportunity to design an experience that simplifies plant care while creating a stronger emotional connection between users and their gardens.

Designing Conversations Between Humans and Plants

At the core of the experience is the idea of conversational plant care. Instead of presenting information through traditional dashboards and static care guides, Garden Gossips allows users to interact with their plants through chat-based conversations. Using AI, plants can communicate their needs, answer questions, and provide contextual guidance based on their current state. This familiar interaction model makes information easier to consume while encouraging users to engage with their gardens more frequently.

Creating a Personalised Garden Management Experience

Beyond conversations, the app provides users with a centralised view of their entire garden. Users can add plants, access detailed information about each species, monitor care requirements, and keep track of activities such as watering and fertilising. The garden dashboard highlights important alerts and maintenance tasks, enabling users to take timely actions and maintain healthier plants with less effort.

Combining Utility With Emotional Engagement

A key objective of the project was to create an experience that feels both practical and delightful. Features such as group conversations between plants introduce a playful layer to the experience, helping users develop a deeper emotional attachment to their gardens. The visual design adopts a calm and approachable aesthetic inspired by nature. Soft colours, friendly illustrations, and simple interactions were used throughout the interface to create an experience that feels welcoming to both novice and experienced gardeners.

Encouraging More Meaningful Gardening Experiences

Rather than functioning solely as a plant management tool, Garden Gossips aims to strengthen the relationship between people and nature. By combining AI-powered guidance with conversational interactions, the app makes gardening more accessible, engaging, and rewarding. Through this project, I explored how AI can be used not only to provide information but also to create meaningful emotional connections between users and the things they care about.
